Admission Requirements

Admission to our Master of Laws in Legal Innovation & Technology (LLM in LIT) program is based on overall academic performance, work experience, seriousness of purpose, letters of recommendation, resume, and the applicant’s personal statement.

Once all application materials have been received, select applicants will be invited to participate in an interview. No applicant will be admitted into the LLM in LIT program without an interview, but not all applicants will be invited to interview. If you are selected to interview, you will be notified by email with further information. Interviews may be conducted in person or online. All applicants are encouraged to visit the campus and they may meet with an admissions advisor; however, this meeting will not be in lieu of the interview.

Eligibility to Apply

Applicants seeking admission to the LLM in LIT program must hold an existing law degree (JD) from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States, or an equivalent degree granted by an institution in another country (as determined by the Office of Graduate Law Programs). Proof of degree conferral must be on file with the University for enrollment. For those attending a U.S. institution, this is often a part of your university transcript. For those from non-U.S. institutions, this will be a degree statement in addition to your marks sheets.

Degree Requirements

All students must satisfactorily complete 24 credits to earn the LLM in LIT degree. Students must remain in good academic standing.

Full-Time (Residency Duration 1 year)

Students enrolled in the full-time LLM in LIT program must register for at least 9 credits per semester.

Part-Time (Residency Duration 1.5 – 3 years)

Students enrolled in the part-time LLM in LIT program must register for at least 4 credits per semester.

Priority Application Deadlines

Admission Decisions and Scholarship Information

The Graduate Law Admissions Committee operates on a rolling admissions basis. A candidate is notified as soon as a decision is made. Review of applications begins in January and continues throughout the spring and early summer. May 15 is the priority application for a fall/August start date and October 1 is the priority application deadline for a spring/January start date. It is to the applicant's advantage to complete the process early.

All applicants are automatically reviewed for merit-based scholarship potential. No separate application is required. Applicants will be notified of their admission decision and scholarship award at the same time.
