Financial Aid For Admitted Students

Here at the Office of Student Financial Services, we understand that affordability is on your mind—and that the financial aid process can feel intimidating. We’ve compiled this detailed information on accessing and understanding your financial aid offer to help you make the best choice for your future.

We’re here to help, from this moment all the way until you walk across the stage at graduation.

Grants & Scholarships

Suffolk University automatically considers all applicants for merit-based aid—grants and scholarships you don’t have to repay. Your FAFSA will determine your eligibility for federal, state, or institutional grants and scholarships. Your acceptance letter will let you know if you’ve been awarded a merit scholarship. Learn more about Grants & Scholarships.

Loans

Loans are funds you borrow, and they must be repaid. This kind of aid is subject to terms and usually require interest payments along with repayment of the principal amount. Learn more about Loans.

Employment

Employment involves a job, usually within the university. Learn more about Employment & Work Awards.

To be considered for need based aid, please complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you have not already done so. Suffolk’s federal school code is 002218.

If you’re a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, we encourage you to take this step to be considered for need based aid.

If you’re not eligible to file a FAFSA, please review our Cost of Attendance page. It will give you an estimate of the direct and indirect costs associated with full-time enrollment for the academic year. We’ll apply any merit scholarships you’re awarded toward this full-time tuition cost.

As a newly admitted student you can view your financial aid information on the Workday Student external site.

Setting Up Your Workday Student Access

Now that you've been accepted to Suffolk, look for an email from [email protected] with the subject “Reset your password for your Suffolk External Student Site account.” It will contain a link to access your information.

Please keep in mind, you can't access the external site until you receive this email.

If this access link expires, please go to the Workday Student site and click on “Sign In” in the upper-right corner of the window. Then select "Forgot your password?" and enter the email address you used on your Admission application. Next, click “Reset Password” and you will then receive an email with instructions on how to reset your password and set up your access credentials.

If you have already created your Workday External account and need a password reset at any time, simply click on “Forgot Your Password” to reset your account. The email address you included on your admission application will help you complete this process.

After Reviewing Your Financial Aid Offer

Please reach out to our office with any questions about your financial aid offer and how to finance your remaining costs. You can contact your assigned financial aid counselor directly, email our general inbox, or call the Ram Center at 617-573-8488. If needed, you may also request a virtual or in-person appointment.

Submitting Required Documents

Please note that we may require additional documents to finalize your financial aid. We’ll send information about these items directly to the personal email address you provided when you applied to Suffolk.

You can submit your requested documentation through our Workday Student external portal:

  • Under My Financial Aid Requirements, you’ll see any additional documents you still need to submit as part of your financial aid application
These items will appear in Workday Student with a status of ‘Awaiting Me’
  • Most outstanding documents will contain a link allowing you to complete and submit the form electronically
You’ll see the status for each item change to ‘In Review’
  • If you have no outstanding requirements, nothing will be listed in the display

We encourage you to check your email frequently and respond promptly to any questions from our office. That way, your aid package will be all set, fully available, and ready to help finance your Suffolk education.

Special Circumstances

If you have a special circumstance and the FAFSA does not accurately reflect your family’s financial situation, we encourage you to discuss it with your financial aid counselor. Examples may include a job loss or an extraordinary expense incurred by your family.

Outside Scholarships

We encourage you to apply for outside scholarships to supplement their existing aid. It's University policy is to allow scholarships from all sources, up to your direct costs, but not beyond this amount.

If you have questions about your financial aid and a potential outside scholarship, please contact Student Financial Services.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have completed a 2025-2026 FAFSA and it has been reviewed by our financial aid team, you should receive your financial aid offer shortly after your acceptance.

Your financial aid offer will include merit scholarship (if already awarded) as well as any other federal, state, or institutional financial aid. These can be grants, scholarships, loans, and work programs based on your FAFSA eligibility.

It's not too late!

We strongly encourage all eligible students to complete the 2025-26 FAFSA as soon as possible to apply for need-based financial assistance. Our school code is 002218.

Make sure you filed the FAFSA for the 2025-2026 award year and that you listed Suffolk University as one of the schools to receive your FAFSA using our school code 002218.

If you’ve done both of these and have not received a financial aid offer, please reach out to Student Financial Services (SFS). Your financial aid counselor may need additional information from you before your financial aid can be determined.

Financial aid eligibility is dependent on a student maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

Additionally, some merit scholarships such as Dean’s and Miller have specific GPA criteria. A cumulative 3.0 GPA is required for Dean’s recipients, and a cumulative 2.8 cumulative GPA is required for Miller recipients.

Many of our students utilize loans and payment plans to finance their remaining cost of attendance after financial aid is applied. These options include federal PLUS loans, private education loans, and the university payment plans.

We understand that these options are complex, so please contact Student Financial Services with questions.
