Tell us a little about yourself:

I am originally from Lynnfield, MA and currently live in Somerville, MA

My current job is as a Content Marketing Specialist at Soofa in Cambridge, MA. I create and execute content as part of Soofa’s marketing team. I write blogs for our website, manage all social media pages, send marketing emails, assist with pitch decks, and more.

Why did you choose Suffolk?

I wanted to experience living and working in Boston. Suffolk’s location is amazing in that way and tuition was more affordable than other Boston area schools. Suffolk’s diverse student population was also appealing to me. When choosing a school, it was important for me to be around different kinds of people.

What projects were the most compelling during your time at Suffolk?

My senior thesis project was the most significant project for me since I spent a year developing, reading, and writing about a topic I care deeply about. I wrote it 2020-2021 so I was proud of myself and other thesis writers for accomplishing so much at the height of the pandemic.

Were there any faculty or staff members who significantly impacted your experience?

There’s honestly so many people especially in the English department that helped shape my Suffolk experience. Specifically, Peter Jeffreys was my advisor and he always pushed me to challenge myself and try courses I wouldn’t normally choose. I still think about the topics in his classes and appreciate him for all his encouragement throughout my undergrad.

Additionally, Quentin Miller was my thesis advisor and mentor throughout my senior year. He helped perfect my writing and immersed himself in my topic to understand my argument and short story alongside me.

Which student organizations did you participate in?

I was part of the CAS honors program, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. It was helpful for me to be part of smaller student organizations to push myself academically. I was able to connect with new students at Suffolk and have important conversations about career building.

At Suffolk I was part of the A Capella group, The Suffolk Ramifications, for all four years and it was my favorite part of my student experience. Working hard for the group helped me work hard for my classes since singing allows me to have fun and take my mind off everything else. I was a Student Music Director for the group which helped me develop my skills as a leader and educator.

How did Suffolk help prepare you for your career?

Being an English major allowed me to develop critical reading, writing, and analytical skills I can apply to my work or personal life. Overall, my Suffolk experience helped me become more independent and confident in my professional abilities.
