Markendy's Suffolk Story
As a first-generation college student, it was important to me to attend a university that guides me in the right direction. Just being in the heart of Boston, Suffolk University provided me with endless opportunity and connections. I don’t think I would achieve as much as I have if I attended another university. Through the Ram Alumni Mentoring Program on campus, I found a mentor who helped me find my path to accomplishing my goals. In addition, connecting with the Suffolk INROADS program helped me get an internship with the largest accounting firm in the world, Deloitte, which has opened many doors for me.
I was able to start my own club on campus, the Fundamental Brotherhood Society. With this group, I train Suffolk University undergraduates to become young professionals and help members develop personal goals through peer mentoring.
Truly, I am grateful to be at a university that allows me to grow and build a foundation so I can succeed. All in all, I am confident that after I graduate Suffolk, I will become the great entrepreneur I aspire to be.
