Teaching Philosophy

My primary goal is to help every student I work with speak in a clear and distinct voice. This involves making my students aware of and conversant in the history of art and the mechanics of their craft. It is achieved through combining the expressed and implied curriculums in such a way that there is a maximum opportunity for the students to develop as individuals while understanding they are part of a larger community. In many ways the most significant and practical legacy of their education is the self-critical viewpoint that is developed through rigorous critique and a thorough understanding of studio practice.
