Michèle Plott

Michèle Plott teaches courses in the history of western civilization and in nineteenth- and twentieth-century European history, with a focus on cultural and social history and the history of women and gender. She also teaches in the Women's and Gender Studies Program.
She is the author of "The Rules of the Game: Respectability, Sexuality, and the Femme Mondaine in Late-Nineteenth-Century Paris" French Historical Studies 25:3 (Summer, 2002), 531-556. In addition, she is the co-author, with Lauri Umansky, of Making Sense of Women's Lives: An Introduction to Women's Studies (Collegiate Press, 2000).
She is currently completing a book on marriage and divorce in late-nineteenth-century France.
