Program Offerings

The general Master of Laws program is for students who have already completed a law degree and want to enhance their legal skills by focusing on a particular field or an emerging area of law.

Launched in 2012 to capitalize on the depth and breadth of Suffolk Law's curriculum, this degree offers you maximum flexibility. You can create your own track in a field of your choosing or select courses from Suffolk's recognized areas of expertise:

  • Dispute Resolution and Civil Litigation
  • Business Law and Financial Services
  • Biomedical and Health Law
  • International Law
  • Intellectual Property

The general LLM can be completed in two semesters as a full-time student or 3 years part-time.

Now more than ever, modern businesses and institutions are faced with unique and unprecedented legal challenges posed by breakthroughs in science, technology, and communication. Suffolk Law’s LLM in Global Law and Technology will help you meet these challenges and prepare for the future practice of law.

Created in 2002, this program was the first of its kind in the United States – an LLM combining different specializations into one cohesive program. You can choose to concentrate in one of four areas:

  • International Law and Business
  • Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law
  • Biotechnology and Health Law
  • US Law and Legal Methods

The Global Law and Technology LLM can be completed in two semesters as a full-time student or 3 years part-time.

The Legal English Institute course was established to meet the unique needs of law students whose first language is not English—whether you are entering Suffolk’s LLM program or another US law school.

This intensive three-week course at our Boston campus introduces you to the US legal system and the specific language and academic skills you’ll need to pursue your degree. The Institute covers:

  • Note-taking
  • Grammar
  • Writing
  • Public speaking
  • Legal vocabulary
  • Use of US legal materials

The Institute meets five days a week for three weeks before the start of the fall semester.
