Interdisciplinary Studies

At Suffolk, data science is not a theoretical discipline. You’ll work with dedicated faculty and students across the College of Arts & Sciences taking data science application courses in diverse fields — such as psychology, economics, biology, and communications — and apply your skills to real world problems.

Learn which economic factors shape consumer behavior, and how algorithms impact the information we’re exposed to on social media. Use your computer modeling skills to analyze how perceptions of mental health have changed over time, or parse mountains of data rapidly to unlock the mechanisms behind genetic mutations.

You’ll collaborate with experts to understand the most pressing and complex issues in their fields, then provide data-driven insights that can lead to informed, ethical, practical solutions -- engaging with important questions as you learn and preparing for a career of immediate and lifelong impact.

If you learn best by doing, you’ll thrive in our hands-on program and in this ever-changing field.

Working with real data sets and client projects in your classes, you’ll gain a strong foundation in machine-learning, programming, and data modeling, and sharpen your ability to communicate your insights both visually and verbally. You’ll put these in-demand skills to work through internships and independent studies that will help you bridge the gap between theory and practice while you build your professional network. And you’ll do it all in Boston, a global hub for technology and innovation.

Center for Career Equity, Development & Success

The Career Center will help you explore career options, plan your path, and land your dream internship or job. You’ll find practical help, like how to write an effective résumé or LinkedIn profile, along with valuable connections to leading employers and successful alumni.
