What is Canvas?

Welcome to Canvas, Suffolk University’s learning management system (LMS). Whether you’re a seasoned student or just starting your college journey, Canvas is your one-stop online destination for all things related to your courses (course content, assignments, quizzes, discussions, and communication.)

Getting Started with Canvas

  1. Log in: canvas.suffolk.edu
  2. Check out Suffolk’s Let’s Canvas student course:

    Option 1: Complete Let’s Canvas as a course. If you are looking for an overview of how to use Canvas, set aside about 20 to 30 minutes to complete the course.

    Option 2: Explore FAQs. If you have a specific question about using Canvas, like how to submit an assignment or take a quiz, check out the frequently asked questions on the Let’s Canvas home page for quick link to answers.

Having trouble submitting an assignment or taking a quiz? Is something not loading correctly, or do you get an access error message? Check out these help resources!

  • Contact Canvas 24/7 Support available within Canvas:
    Click the Help? Button on the Global Navigation menu to start a chat with Chat with Canvas Support (Students) or call the Canvas Support Hotline, 1 (833) 286-2856.
  • For non-urgent requests, please contact the Service Desk by email or ask for help through the Service Portal.

 

Encountering browser troubles?

Getting an error message or a page isn't loading? Don't worry, we've got you covered with some troubleshooting tips.

  1. Check that Canvas supports your browser:
    What are the browser and computer requirements for Instructure products?
  2. Update your browser.
    Outdated browsers may not work with certain features.
  3. Try another browser or device.
    The issue may be browser specific. Switching your browser could solve the issue.
  4. Clear your cache:
    How do I clear my browser cache on a Mac?

  5. Allow pop-ups and new tabs:
    How do I allow pop-ups for Canvas in my browser?
  6. Restart your device.
    Sometimes a restart can work wonders.
