New Academic Year Brings New Faculty to the Sawyer Business School
Mark Almeida, EMBA '10Instructor of Management Professor Almeida is a sales and marketing executive with more than 25 years of experience in building relationships. Following a successful career as a global sales executive at AT&T, Almeida pivoted into higher education in 2017. At Suffolk University's Sawyer Business School (SBS), Mark mentored students in the RAM Alumni Mentoring Program. In that same year, he also became a part-time Adjunct Instructor in SBS' Management & Entrepreneurship Department. In July 2023, Almeida accepted a full-time role at Suffolk University as Instructor of Management and Director of the Executive MBA (EMBA) and Corporate Education Programs. His teaching centers on employer-sponsored business challenges where students recommend change management strategies in capstone projects. As the EMBA Director, Almeida oversees the marketing and recruitment of one of the region’s longest running graduate degree programs. As Director of Corporate Education, he develops custom learning solutions for employer partners suited to their business needs. Professor Almeida has an undergraduate degree in Business Management with a Marketing specialization from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, and has an Executive MBA from Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School. |

Saerim KimAssistant Professor, Public Administration Professor Kim's research and teaching focus on the fields of public budgeting and financial management, nonprofit finance and management, collaborative governance, and issues related to homelessness. Her current interest involves understanding how cross-sectoral collaboration affects the performance of public service provision with special attention to financial resource composition and equity. Kim's dissertation, entitled Three Essays on Financial Collaboration in the Government and Nonprofit Sectors, was selected for a doctoral fellowship by the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) in 2017. She also received ARNOVA's Emerging Scholar Award in 2016. Kim earned her PhD from the Martin School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Kentucky and a Master's in Public Policy from Georgia State University. |

Áine LoriéVisiting Assistant Professor Professor Lorié's research interest focuses on the intersection of empathy and culture in organizational settings. She specializes in qualitative research and grounded theory which examine peoples’ lived experiences to help define and resolve individual and social problems. Lorié received her PhD in Sociology at the National University of Ireland, Galway. She started at Suffolk University Sawyer Business School in 2019 teaching organizational behavior and leadership. She also holds a research position in the Empathy and Relational Science Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. She has published several articles on interpersonal and empathic communication in cross-cultural clinical encounters. |

Kimberley RingInstructor of Marketing With a love for all things marketing and public relations, Professor Ring is a seasoned communications professional with more than 20 years of experience. She is the founder of Ring Communications, an integrated marketing consultancy that works with clients in the sports, hospitality, and lifestyle industries. A passionate educator, Ring brings innovative and experiential learning methods to all marketing courses she teaches. In addition, she is the founder of Suffolk in the Hub, the Business School's student-run marketing agency, delivering creative and strategic direct, digital, public relations, and social media projects to start-up and solopreneur small businesses in and around Boston. |

Ted SheaInstructor of Finance Professor Shea has taught in the finance department of Sawyer Business School for more than 10 years, focusing on investment and finance related subjects. He will continue to focus in these teaching areas while applying current and former corporate experience in these fields to support efforts to deepen the experiential nature of students' learning in finance related courses. Shea's background includes a combination of corporate finance, operations and investing roles which helps in bringing a diverse perspective into the classroom. He strives to leverage that experience through team-based projects in classes which allows students to analyze real companies and properties during their studies. |
