A multitude of animals -- from deer to gray foxes -- are making their way to the Boston Harbor Islands, a migration studied by Biology Professor Lauren Nolfo-Clements, who discussed the results of her research with the Boston Globe.

In addition to the phenomenon of animals swimming or crossing ice to reach the islands, Nolfo-Clements notes that some small mammals have grown larger than usual, a possible result of "island syndrome."

Her work leading a survey of changing animal populations on a handful of the Boston Harbor Islands park system's 34 islands and peninsulas is recounted in the Boston Globe article "Island getaways lure creatures great, small."
