Coach Sets Rams Hockey Win Record
Suffolk University Hockey Coach Chris Glionna earned his 66th career win on Jan. 12 with a 4-1 victory over SUNY-Brockport, making him the all-time win leader among Rams hockey coaches.
He surpasses Bill Burns' (1991-96) previous total of 65.
Glionna, a Suffolk alumnus, has been at the helm of the Rams since the 2004-05 season and boasted a career record of 66-127-17 with the SUNY win.
He was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast Hockey Coach of the Year during the 2009-10 season.
In nine seasons, 15 of Glionna's players have earned recognition with All-Conference honors from the ECAC Northeast.
Glionna has emphasized service along with success on the ice. He has directed a Toys for Tots drive organized by his players over the past eight seasons. In 2010-11 the Rams donned pink game sweaters to raise awareness of breast cancer, and last season Suffolk donned fatigue-styled sweater as they raised donations for local veterans.
