“It’s Physical: Kim Bernard”

The Suffolk University Gallery presents It’s Physical: Kim Bernard through Oct. 3, 2015. The exhibit is part of the gallery’s annual fall series of exhibits devoted to Art + Science + Design.

The artwork in the exhibit derives from Bernard’s research, experimentation, and collaboration with the scientists in the Harvard University Physics Department, where she is the artist in residence.

"It’s fascinating that there are predictable patterns in matter and motion,” said Bernard. ”I’m interested in creating work that demonstrates this phenomena simply, with an aesthetic that allows the viewer easy access and provides a tangible way of seeing physics."

Bernard shows her sculpture, installations, and encaustic works nationally. Her work has been reviewed in the Boston Globe and Art News and featured in 100 Artists of New England.

A reception and gallery talk with  Bernard and Suffolk University Physics Professor Prashant Sharma will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, followed by a reception at 5:30 p.m.

The next Art + Science + Design exhibit is It’s Biological: Michelle Samour, running October 8 - 31, 2015.

The Suffolk University Gallery is programmed by the New England School of Art & Design at Suffolk University.
