National Bankruptcy Law Moot Court Team

The Duberstein Moot Court Competition is held in honor of Judge Conrad Duberstein, a St. John's School of Law alumnus who ultimately served as Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York, one of the nation's leading bankruptcy courts.

The competition is held in New York City and co-sponsored by St. John's Law School and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Students from 60 law schools across the nation argue leading national bankruptcy policy issues likely to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court. The competition is the largest single-site moot competition in the United States. Early competition rounds are before leading bankruptcy lawyers and judges from around the United States. The final argument round is held at The Conrad B. Duberstein U.S. Bankruptcy Courthouse in Brooklyn, New York. The competition is followed by a gala dinner drawing more than one thousand attendees including leading lawyers, academics and judges.
