2. Course Design
Next, we help you identify your organizational learning objectives and determine the best format and schedule for the program. Working with Suffolk’s diverse faculty, you’ll have specialized experts developing program material that’s tailored to you.
We will work together to choose from and combine a variety of possible program elements, including seminar-style content modules, 360 leadership assessments, facilitated peer group coaching, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
3. Deliver Program
Your program can be offered onsite or at Suffolk’s downtown Boston campus—a global hub for financial services, innovation, biotech, and healthcare. Each program is experiential and emphasizes action-oriented, hands-on learning. Class discussions are based on actual organizational challenges from participants, not textbook examples.
After the program, we work with you to evaluate the program’s effectiveness and determine how to refine content for the next delivery or follow-up program.
The Center develops coaching programs that enable organizations to leverage the knowledge, skills, and abilities of their associates. Suffolk’s customized coaching workshops are designed to increase the coaching competencies of your leaders and establish a process for embedding coaching into your company's culture.
Coaching programs are rooted in experiential learning and integrate a mix of coaching and management training. Depending on the organization’s objectives, the program may focus on helping employees leverage their talent and expertise by guiding them toward greater self-awareness, independent problem-solving, and performance enhancement. Participants may also learn how to use their expertise and knowledge of the industry, organization, and functional area to offer advice that accelerates employees' performance and professional development. The program may also include facilitated peer coaching, discussions, and practice sessions to reinforce the coaching content and process.
The Center develops programs for both emerging managers and senior leaders. These programs use a variety of methodologies, including brief lectures, seminar-style discussions, experiential activities, live case studies, reflective practices, 360 assessments, one-on-one coaching, and facilitated peer coaching sessions. Specific learning outcomes are developed in conjunction with the client, and may include:
- Enhancing self-awareness
- Learning different models for managing, motivating, and delegating
- Managing difficult conversations
- Influence without authority
- Leveraging culture and managing change to support organizational goals
- Giving and receiving feedback
The Center worked with TripAdvisor to create a senior leadership development program that ran cohorts of participants through a five-month series of seminars and one-on-one coaching sessions, followed by a year of quarterly facilitated peer group coaching sessions, which were designed to reinforce program learning goals.
Business Acumen for In-House Counsel
As the demand for in-house counsel continues to grow, these professionals require a deeper understanding of how businesses operate. In order to add tremendous value to a company’s in-house legal team, attorneys need to understand the strategy and culture of a business and be able to read and understand basic financial statements. Suffolk’s programs for in-house counsel focus on essential business decision-making skills necessary to operate in a corporate environment.
Suffolk’s Center for Executive Education worked closely with Bose to develop a custom program for their in-house attorneys. The first half of the four day program provided an overview of strategic management, giving the attorneys a comprehensive review of how business decisions are made. The second half focused on fundamental accounting and finance principles.
