Although international travel and study abroad is once again becoming possible, your experience will likely look different from what you always imagined for yourself. Please be advised that all on-site study abroad options are contingent on health and safety conditions and are subject to change at any time. You’ll need to approach study abroad with an open mind and a great deal of flexibility.

After reviewing the content of this webpage in its entirety, you have several options from which to choose to start the process:

• If you already know where you’d like to study, schedule a study abroad advising appointment. You will be assigned a study abroad advisor based on your preferred location. You can make your appointment online through Navigate or by calling 617-573-8034
• If you’re not sure yet where you want to study, you should attend a Study Abroad Information Session. All info sessions will be hybrid. You can join us in person in 73 Tremont in Room 5070 or online via Zoom
  Upcoming sessions will be held on February 17 and March 3 at 12:35 p.m.

Passports

If you are planning to travel internationally, you will need a passport with at least one year of validity remaining on it. If you do not already have a valid passport, apply for a new one right away. Please review the Department of State’s website for full details.

Student Visas

You may need to apply for a student visa in order to engage in an on-site study abroad program. The Center for International Programs and Services will assist you with this process, but ultimately it is your responsibility to secure the required visa. In the event of program cancellation, Suffolk University is not able to reimburse students for any unrecoverable visa fees.

All Programs

If you plan to engage in an on-site program, you should not book travel until your study abroad program or university has given you clearance to do so.

Disclaimer

Suffolk University is not able to assume/reimburse any costs associated with a cancelled or interrupted study abroad program (flights, visas, etc.).

The application deadline is March 15.

Please be aware that external programs may have earlier deadlines. It is your responsibility to ensure that you submit all required materials by this deadline.

CAPA Remote Global Internships (various locations)

With a Remote Global Internship, you can still engage in meaningful, career-advancing global learning without ever leaving home. 

Placements

Placements are available in a wide range of fields, including (but not limited to): Advertising & PR, Business, Communications, Data Analytics, Education, Finance, Fundraising & Philanthropy, Game Design & Development, Graphic Design, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Human Resources, Interior Design, IT & Computer Systems, Marketing & Communications, Sports Management, Video Editing & Animation, and Web Design.

Coursework

Remote Global Interns will enroll in a 3-credit Global Internship Course, which brings interns from around the world together, and a part-time work placement. In order to maintain your financial aid package, you’ll need to enroll in 9-14 additional credits through Suffolk.

Applications

Space is limited and securing a placement can be competitive, so be sure you put forth your best effort on your application. In addition to a study abroad application, you’ll need to submit some additional materials to help support your internship placement, such as: a professional resume or curriculum vitae, professional and academic references, a personal statement / cover letter, and an academic transcript.

Application Support

You’ll have the full support of a study abroad advisor, but you should also take advantage of the resources available through Center for Career Development (CDC) to make sure your materials are of the highest quality.

GoinGlobal provides international city guides and information for students who plan to study or work abroad. For off-campus access: login to Handshake, click Career Center, and select Resources.

We are now able to approve most of our regular semester program options. Please review these options carefully and schedule an appointment with a study abroad advisor to discuss details.
