Rue La La
"My sister went to Suffolk. I came up to visit her one weekend when I was in high school, and I decided I wanted to be in Boston for school. I loved visiting her, and how the city was the campus."
" I think the biggest asset I took advantage of is the network and the experience I got there — the people I was able to meet through Suffolk. As a PR intern, I was able to dip my toes in a whole bunch of things in PR and advertising. I truly do not believe I would have had these opportunities if I wasn’t where I was, at Suffolk."
"Actually, no. It sounds like it, but that’s not what it is. Rue La La is an online fashion flash sales site. We sell designer items for a reduced price, but only for a certain amount of time. An event is not necessarily a tangible place you go. It’s an online, living boutique for a brand. My job is to get all the assets for that event to work together. I collect samples and images and other attributes, whatever we need to produce that event to go live. Now I work in the kids department, Little Rue."
"I love that I am the point of contact, the person who starts the ball rolling on all these events. Buyers, the imaging department, the studio, the vendor—I communicate with everyone."
"Do you have an hour? Probably the most favorite perk is the sample sales. Every single month we have a sample sale, all the samples we ordered for shoots that weren’t returned to the vendors. Only [employees] can go to it, and you can get extremely expensive items for ridiculously low prices. And what’s really cool is, all the proceeds go to charity."
