Mission
The Mildred F. Sawyer Library’s mission is to support the information and educational needs of students and faculty, with the ultimate goal of fostering information literacy. The Library is invested in lifelong learning for the Suffolk Community by providing, organizing, and enabling access to information for research and teaching purposes. Sawyer Library builds partnerships in support of the curriculum and academic success of our students while encouraging individual discovery.
Access
The Sawyer Library provides services to Suffolk University students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
The library also provides several ways for non-Suffolk affiliated users to access the Sawyer Library and its collections:
- Members of the Fenway Library Organization (FLO) are welcome to use the library’s space and resources
- Members of the general public are welcome to use on-site print and microform collections within the Sawyer Library
- Members of the general public are also welcome to use materials in the Moakley Archives, the Clark Collection of African American Literature, and the Freedmen’s Bureau Papers (on microfilm), all located on the 2nd level of the library
- Visitors are encouraged to contact the library in advance to arrange access and will also need to check in with the security desk upon arrival
Circulating privileges, Wi-fi, printing, and database resources are only available to members of the Suffolk University Community. These services are available at many local public libraries including the Boston Public Library.
Location
The Sawyer Library occupies three levels of the 73 Tremont Street Building (Rosalie K. Stahl Center).
Building Main Entrance (Lobby): Located at Beacon and Tremont Street; proceed to Second Floor.
Library-level Entrance (Back Door): Located on Tremont Place and Beacon Street; library will be directly ahead.
