• Energy Conservation Competition

This October, the Suffolk University residence halls are facing off in an Energy Conservation Competition for the first time.

The Pledge

The Eco-Rep student volunteers are distributing free energy efficient light bulbs in the residence halls and encouraging students to sign the Energy Conservation Pledge.   Students who sign the Pledge commit to:

  • unplugging devices when not in use & turning off power strips,
  • turning off lights, TV, and computer when not in use,
  • using an energy efficient light bulb in lamps, and
  • only washing full loads of laundry.

These actions reduce our impact on climate change and lower our utility expenses.

The Prize

The prize is a pizza party for the residence hall that achieves the greatest reduction in electricity consumption for the month of October (compared to the previous October).  The results will be announced in November.
