In January 2007, Facilities Planning & Management convened a Sustainability Committee, an advisory group regarding research, education, and outreach in the area of sustainability. The following fall, the Recycling Committee and Sustainability Committee merged to address campus environmental matters comprehensively. The Sustainability Committee works to:

It was soon followed by the Law School. In the fall of 2009, the Ballotti Learning Center formed a Green Team. With support from the Special Projects Coordinator for Campus Sustainability, Green Teams focus on developing operations that minimize waste and foster conservation.
