The Massachusetts Society of CPAs is honoring William Driscoll with its 2017 Outstanding Educator of the Year Award.
Driscoll, BSBA ’72, MBA ’73, an instructor in the Sawyer Business School Accounting Department, was chosen for his excellence in teaching and motivating students, as well as for his contribution to the accounting profession, active participation in the Society, and his efforts in serving as a liaison between the classroom and the business world.
Driscoll’s areas of expertise include principles of accounting, taxation, and intermediate accounting.
He will be recognized at the Massachusetts Society of CPAs awards ceremony and recognition reception in mid-May, and the honor includes a monetary award with a matching amount in his name to the Sawyer Business School.
Driscoll is the principal of Driscoll & Company, a tax and management consulting business. He previously held positions at the Internal Revenue Service, serving as an manager of income, excise, and strike force groups. He also developed an annual training program for the New England District of the IRS.
In 2016, the MSCPA honored Suffolk Professor Mary-Joan Pelletier Potvin, MSA ’05, as its Outstanding Educator of the Year.
