Biography

Janet W. Fisher is a professor in the Academic Support Program. Her work focuses on helping individual students succeed in law school and on teaching legal analysis and writing skills. She has published articles on teaching, learning and assessment and has served on the advisory board to Suffolk University’s Center for Teaching Excellence. Before joining Suffolk, she was a tenured associate professor at Anna Maria College where she taught a variety of law-related courses as well as courses in critical thinking and writing and leadership. She was a PACT (Partnership for Academic Programs in College Teaching) Fellow at the University of New Hampshire and has taught in the Certificate in College Teaching Program sponsored by The Colleges of the Worcester Consortium, Inc. She practiced both civil and criminal law in Worcester, Massachusetts, during which time she argued before both the Massachusetts Appeals Court and the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and in the federal District of Massachusetts. She graduated cum laude from Suffolk University Law School where she was a member of the law review. She received her B.A. in English cum laude from Fontbonne College.
