Arts Administration Minor

Arts administrators need strong managerial skills and marketing know-how to oversee day-to-day activities at galleries, museums, theatre and dance companies, nonprofits, and government agencies. They run galleries, produce plays, and get patrons to attend concerts.

Suffolk’s interdisciplinary arts administration minor will give you the range of skills you'll need to work behind the scenes in the performing and visual arts.

You’ll study the financial and legal needs of arts organizations, strategies for marketing and funding the arts, and community outreach. Arts administration courses span departments in the College of Arts & Sciences and in the Sawyer Business School, from marketing and social media to business law and small business management.

You’ll also gain hands-on experience through internships at some of Boston’s world-class arts organizations, including the Boston Ballet, Broadway in Boston, the Museum of Fine Arts, and many smaller performing and visual arts organizations.

This minor is a collaboration among the departments of Advertising, Public Relations, & Social MediaArt & DesignArt HistoryTheatre, and the Sawyer Business School.
