If you intend to graduate, you must complete an Application for Degree, available under the Graduation tab of your MySuffolk account.
You are allowed to attend Commencement if you are within three courses of completing your degree requirements and are registered for those remaining courses in the summer sessions. You must also have achieved the required cumulative, major, and minor grade point average.
To apply to be the graduate student speaker, email Theresa Malionek with your resume, draft remarks (limited to 5 minutes), and student ID number by April 7. To be eligible, you must be:

The student speaker will give a 6 – 8 minute speech at the College of Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 20, 2017. For more information, review the application and contact Jen Bonardi in the CAS Dean's Office with any questions.
Graduates should reserve their regalia and graduate hoods online. The final date to order regalia online is March 28th. Regalia is free of charge. If you have questions about placing your regalia order please contact the Suffolk University Bookstore at 617-305-6220.
If you are a PhD student, your regalia will be handled by your department. Please contact your department to order your regalia.
Commencement regalia is free for all students participating in the commencement ceremony.
The commencement packet you will receive at Packet Pick-Up serves as a "release" for your regalia. With the commencement packet and a valid picture I.D. in hand, you can visit the Suffolk Bookstore (120 Tremont St., Boston, MA 02108) to obtain your cap and gown.
The Bookstore will stock caps and gowns in a variety of sizes.

If you are unable to pick up your commencement packet in person, you must arrange for a classmate, relative or a friend to do so for you. We cannot mail commencement materials. You must provide the person who will be picking up your commencement packet with a signed letter from you authorizing that person to pick up your packet. The letter must contain your name, I.D. number and signature. The letter must be submitted at Packet Pick-Up.
Packet Pick-Up* will be available during the following days and times:
Dates: Thursday, May 4 - Wednesday, May 10
Location: Stoll Room (Room 410, Sawyer Building, 8 Ashburton Pl., Boston, MA 02108).
Times: 9:00am - 6:00pm
Note: packet pick-up will not be open Saturday, May 6 or Sunday, May 7.
Graduate students will not receive an assigned time and may pick up their packets any time during the hours stated above.

If you plan to pick up the commencement packet for another student, you must present your I.D. and a signed letter from the student authorizing you to pick up their packet. The letter must contain the student's name, I.D. number, and signature. Your commencement packet will contain invitations and tickets. The number of tickets is listed in the Tickets and Invitations tab below. With the commencement packet and a picture I.D. in hand, you can visit the Suffolk Bookstore to obtain your cap and gown.
The following steps must be completed in order to receive your commencement packet.
*Please note that this information does not apply to students from the North Campus, Online MBA program and Executive MBA program. If you are in one of those categories, please contact your program director for specific information on how to pick up your packet.
Each student will be given 4 tickets the week of packet pick-up (See the Packet Pick-up tab for dates and times). Students do not need a ticket for the ceremony. Please understand that invitations are provided as commemorative items and cannot be used for entry. One ticket will be required for each guest age three and over for admission to the ceremony.
What if I need extra tickets? Please take only the number of tickets you will need. If you require additional tickets, register here using the password extratickets. In your email, include your name, ID number, and how many additional tickets you may need. You will be notified after Packet Pick-Up week is completed via email about additional ticket requests.
Students who are suspected of selling commencement tickets will be referred to the Student Discipline System.

Arrival and Lineup
Students should arrive to the Westin Copley Place Hotel by 12:00pm sharp with their regalia (which includes cap, robe and graduate hood). Once you arrive, proceed to the 3rd Floor Essex Ballroom South. Hotel staff and Suffolk University volunteers will be on hand to guide you to the proper room.
No personal belongings can be left in the room so please make sure if you have any bags or purses that you leave them with a family member.
There will be a Suffolk Bookstore representative on hand if you were previously given an incorrect robe and/or graduate hood. There will be an opportunity to switch for the correct regalia before the ceremony.
Each student will check in at the registration table and be given a line-up card. The card will include your full name, degree program, and number. You will be lined up according to your degree and card number for the procession.

For families attending 2017 University Commencement exercises, an affordable on-campus housing option is available in the Nathan R. Miller Residence Hall.

Due to the recent President’s Executive Order concerning immigration, it is strongly recommended that you contact Suffolk’s International Student Services Offices immediately if you wish to invite international parents, friends, etc. to attend the Commencement exercises. It may take longer than anticipated for your guests to obtain visas to travel to the United States and advanced planning is recommended. Guests are welcome to take photographs during the ceremony however, they will only be permitted in the areas designated for photographers, they will not be permitted in the roped off areas or aisles. Videotaping is permitted and the same rules apply.
Suffolk University has arranged to have Commencement Photos, Inc. photograph graduating students as they receive their diploma from their respective Dean for purchase.
