New first year and transfer students at Suffolk receive housing through a deposit process with Undergraduate Admissions. After that first year, a room selection process is used for students who want to live on campus.
The room selection process allows current students in housing to participate in a lottery to attain housing for the following academic year. Students will be eligible for housing for the 2014 - 2015 academic year if you are currently a new freshman or a current transfer student, who started in fall with freshman or sophomore standing. Specific eligibility information will be sent to each residential student and their home during the first week of February.
The process requires an overall deposit of $1,000 which is paid in two installments. The first installment of $500 is due prior to selecting a room, and the second installment is due after selecting a room but prior to the end of the semester. After May 2, 2014, none of the $1,000 deposits are refundable if a student does not live on campus for the 2014-2015 academic year, regardless of reason. Both deposits must be paid through our office and cannot be paid online.
Students who are not eligible for the room selection process are encouraged to put their names on the housing waitlist. The waitlist for Fall 2014 will be available in April. There is no deposit or commitment for placing your name on the waitlist. We encourage students to seek off-campus housing options while on the waitlist.

2014 - 2015 Room Selection / Lottery Schedule
Wednesday, January 29:
Students will be notified of eligibility for Room Selection via Suffolk email.
Monday, February 3:
Families will be notified of students’ eligibility via postcard. Students will receive timeline and information regarding Room Selection/Lottery. Available rooms will be posted in the Residence Life Offices of each residence hall.
Tuesday, February 18 - Wednesday, March 19:
The initial $500 deposit is due. Deposits will only be accepted from eligible students. The deposit will be accepted at the Department of Residence Life & Housing (RLH) Central Office located at 73 Tremont Street, 7th floor only. The office is open Monday to Friday, 9AM – 5PM. In addition, you can call the office at 617-305-2500 x 0 to pay by credit card (please do not leave credit card information in a voicemail message), or you can mail a check to Suffolk University ATTN: Residence Life & Housing, 73 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02108. A receipt will be given / e-mailed to you. Payments must be in the form of a check, money order or credit / debit card, no cash will be accepted. Deposits are due by 5 PM, Wednesday, March 19, 2014. There will be no exceptions. If you make a deposit and do not get a lottery number and do not wish to be on Housing Stand By, your deposit will be credited to your student account.

Tours of a variety of 10 West Apartments will be available from 5:00-6:15pm leaving from the 10 West Lobby.
Wednesday, March 19:
RLH will review all lottery participants’ student accounts. Anyone who is not in proper standing with the University will not be able to participate in the room selection process and your initial $500 deposit will be credited to your student account.
Monday, March 24:
Lottery numbers will be generated randomly for all students who submit a $500 deposit by March 19, 2014. Numbers will be posted in each residence hall by the Residence Life Office and emailed to all students.

Tours of a variety of 10 West Apartments will be available from 1:00-2:15pm leaving from the 10 West Lobby.

Any student who did not pick a space on April 9th will have until 2:00 pm on Friday, April 11, 2014 to pick their space. A student may do this by visiting the Central RLH office at 73 Tremont street, 7th Floor during business hours (Thursday, 04/10: 9 AM – 5 PM; Friday, 04/11: 9 AM – 2 PM)
Wednesday, April 16:
Fall 2014 Housing Wait List begins at 12 PM noon, online via the Residence Life & Housing website. No deposit is required.
Monday, April 14 - Friday, May 2:
Final $500 deposit due. This deposit will be accepted only if you are registered as a full-time student and your student account is in good standing. Failure to make this second/final deposit will result in the forfeiture of your on-campus space for Fall 2014, effective at 5 PM on May 2, 2014.
