• Writing Center

Suffolk University’s Writing Center offers tutoring to all students interested in improving their writing.  Students needn’t be struggling or failing in a course in order to work with one of our tutors.  We will help you

  • Generate ideas for your papers
  • Formulate a good thesis
  • Organize and detail your argument
  • Strengthen your sentences
  • Refine your style
  • Improve your reading comprehension
  • Develop skills for literary analysis
  • Learn research techniques
  • Correct your grammar & punctuation

Because the Writing Center does Not offer drop-in tutoring, students must first register in person during our open registration hours posted each semester at the center.  No appointment is needed to register.  Please bring a writing sample, course syllabus and any other materials that will help us determine your needs.  Registration takes approximately 20 minutes and tutoring begins within a few days.

Students are usually tutored one hour per week and may work with the tutor for as many weeks as they choose, provided they attend tutorials regularly. Tutorials are scheduled Monday through Friday, 9-5.

Our tutors are Suffolk English majors who are part of the English Department’s Writing Center Scholars Program.  They are awarded these staff positions in a highly selective departmental competition and are among our most gifted students.  All are committed to helping other Suffolk students.
