For finance professionals, earning the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation is an essential career milestone—one that comes with a lot of hard work and rigorous preparation.
Thanks to Sawyer Business School’s practical, hands-on, and industry-driven curriculum, our graduates are passing the CFA exams with flying colors. Suffolk’s BSBA in Finance and MSF degree incorporate at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge and emphasize the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
As a result, both programs have been accepted into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program. This shows potential employers that the Sawyer Business School curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA exams.
Through this program, the Sawyer Business School is also eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Program each year.
Charles Appeadu, PhD, CFA, head of University Relations at CFA Institute, said:“By mastering the fundamentals of the CFA Program, as well as the Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct, these future investment professionals gain a strong foundation that helps prepare them well to join the growing CFA Institute community dedicated to promoting the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence for the ultimate benefit of society.”
Many alumni, including Ilya Minevich, CFA, MSF 2008, senior investment analyst at John Hancock Life Insurance Company, credit their career success to the Sawyer Business School.
“The MSF program helped me grasp the CFA curriculum quickly. I gained a strong foundation of knowledge and skills, as well as a thorough understanding of the more nuanced topics—all of which were critical in passing the CFA Charter. Looking back, it’s evident that the MSF degree, combined with the CFA designation, was instrumental in my career development,” said Minevich.
