Suffolk Business Faculty:
Real-World Skills For Real World Issues

Our faculty are teachers, scholars, and active participants in business, government, healthcare, and nonprofit communities. Many of our full-time faculty of 98 serve on corporate or nonprofit boards, consult, or are members of professional associations. Through their experience and research, they stay abreast of the latest developments in their field and pass that knowledge on to their students.

One-third of the faculty of the Business School come from abroad. Faculty members like Michael Behnam, Associate Professor of Management, and Lin Guo, Associate Professor of Finance -- all bring unique insights from Germany, China and beyond into the classroom to share with their students.

This hands-on knowledge and desire to share it is a signature mark of our faculty. In addition to textbook information, our faculty mine nuggets of real-world experience, combined with cutting-edge research, supported by technology that saw Suffolk University named as one of the "Top 25 Most-Connected Campuses" by the Princeton Review.

Research At Its Best

Many faculty are known nationally and internationally for their research. As part of his sabbatical award for spring 2006, Robert DeFillippi received a Visiting Fellowship at Imperial College of London through the Advanced Institute of Management (AIM) International. AIM is a 35 million plus euros research program to improve management research and economic competitiveness in the United Kingdom. It is the largest funded academic faculty development program in the world. Professor DeFillippi is one of only sixty selected for this honor.

Professor DeFillippi and his colleague, Management Professor Michael Arthur, have also published a book, Knowledge At Work  (Blackwell Press publisher) that has been selected as one of the most promising management books of 2006 by the European Academy of Management.
